And so it Begins!
- 2 minute read
This is my first of (hopefully) many posts on my website. Recently, I’ve taken on the temporary role of part Tech Writer, part Software Developer. We no longer have a dedicated Technical Writer role nor enough work to justify one, but the user documentation still needs to be written. I’ve wanted to explore Tech Writing for a while now, and this seems like the perfect opportunity to do so without risking changing profession completely. To expedite my development as a writer and to document my journey, I’ve created this site and shaped it like this:
- Blog
- For essay-like entries that may touch on several topics, typically informal and more conversational.
- Guides
- Technical guides on technologies. Mainly to practice technical writing, but also useful for reference.
- Glossary
- For technical terms referenced across the site.
- Cheat Sheets
- Useful reference for common things.
- Tags
- Find pages by their related tags (except glossary pages since they have their own taxonomy).
I foresee a few outcomes of my writing adventure:
- I was only infatuated with the romantic idea of being a writer, but in reality I find it tiresome.
- I discover I don’t have an aptitude for writing.
- I discover Technical Writing isn’t the kind of writing I enjoy.
- But I do enjoy a different form of writing like blogging.
